Nux ModCore

anyone used one?

£39 new in my local guitar den. 

Looks like a pretty versatile pedal if it sounds good, didn't get a chance to try it.

i dunno about the modcore but i'm sure there were some positive things said about the delay a while back.  I'd expect something similar to the mods in an M5 based on the positive vibes (no pun intended) about the delay.

Now if I knew what an M5 sounded like I'd be very well informed.....

but judging on what people say im guessing quite positive???

Their Tape Core seems quite cool, supposed to have an online editor thing to make even more interesting noises. They've also got a neat looking ambient delay thingy. I've watched a Mod Core demo on YouTube if that helps? Some of it sounded quite good, some of it sounded a bit naff. Sounded better than the Mooer multi mod thing anyway.

For mod effects, it sounds pretty good. 

Is it as good as the best boutique examples of the various effects it models? Probably not, but if it's for stuff that you use occasionally and couldn't otherwise afford/fit on your board it's a very good choice.

Whether that has any bearing on the NUX  pedal I don't know. The Mod Force is probably a closer comparison to the M5 than the Mod Core though. Similar sort of money if you shop around.

The Force has more pre sets I think ( the Core has 1) and a slightly different range of sounds plus tap tempo and a little display screen thingy.

Just going from a demo of the Nux to one of the ZCat Q Mod and oh it's so much nicer sounding. I know there are loads of variables on YouTube videos and I haven't got some amazing set up for listening but it seems richer and less quacky. Three times the cost of the Mod Core in that local shop though.

I had a mod core for a while and it was great for the money, I think I paid less than £30 shipped from China and it arrived in around a week. Soundwise I thought it was pretty good. The switch is soft not clunky and the case is metal. The pot shafts are plastic/nylon and while I thought they make snap it survived on my pedal board for a couple years with regular rehearsal/gigs until I sold it. I liked as I had ab array of seldom used effects which did not take up much space. In the end I got a small Rowin phaser and a Johnson fifties tremolo as i did not use the other effects much plus I already had a couple nice chorus pedals in an mxr micro chorus and an old polychorus, so shifted it on.

The NUX isn't bad at all, but it's certainly not great.  If I wanted a do it all mod pedal with a small footprint  I'd go for a Zoom MS-50G

People seem to be taking them seriously now.

I have the ModCore - in fact it's the second one that I've had as the first one mysteriously died. Buyer beware and all that. In fact (again!) this one also died but even more mysteriously resurrected itself and is now back on my board.
It does great chewy vibe and Univibe effects and the 'Leslie' is quite nice. That's all mine is used for,although I accidently had it set to phaser once and that sounded pretty good too.

I agree that 39 quid is a little steep considering they might be a little unreliable, but having said that, I think I've spent almost that much on mine including the replacement, so I must think it has value!

I didn't mind - I got a zoom ultra metal distortion (whatever its called) for about 40 quid and sold it a few months later for over 120 when people realised zoom have had some pretty good designers working there...  

Yes, modern zoom modelling is pretty good. Worth taking seriously.
