Bloody tube strike

What's Hot
Not only will it double my journey time to work but it will prevent me from taking my son to school, which doesn't happen enough as it is (good bit of father son bonding time).
And for what so some career union leader can fan his own bloody ego.
A tiny minority of union members were balloted and only a minority agreed to the the strike.
TFL have stated the changes (i.e. closing of ticket offices) will either mean redeployment of the staff to
be out off the office and on platform or the redundancies will be voluntary.
Every other business has to go through change, why no this one.

Grr angry.

  • Well the contingency plans are working well.

Nice free replacement bus service, they even ropped in a 1960s Routemaster bus. It actually ended up being quicker than
    my normal journey.

Saying that the roads are clear, obviously half of London has decided to stay home or just can't get to a decent hub.

My contingency plan of stay home & drinking tea is working well.

I could ride in but there are too many idiots who don't normally commute out there that aren't used to motorcyclists filtering through traffic.
That was certainly true last time there was a tube strike anyway.

  • Very quiet in the office today. I notice all the self employed contractors have not made it in.

I managed to catch the first tube out of Morden this morning and despite standing for the entire journey, I got to Tottenham Court Rd a lot quicker because it wasn't stopping at every station.

I just know it's going to be mayhem going home and there seemed to be an extraordinary number of "Baby On Board" badges on display today. Mmm. How convenient and if this* is all that's required to get one, it may be open to abuse:-

*These are available from Tube station ticket offices. If you live in Greater London or south east England, you can also request a badge through our Customer Service Centre, by emailing your full name and address to babyonboard@tfl.gov.uk or by calling 0343 222 1234.

Yes I reckon the trip home is always worse on tube strike days.

Well the BBC is supporting the strikers as according to those commuters interviewed on the radio the strike is justified and good luck to the strikers. Comrade Crow's been interviewed and has stated there will be more strikes to support the workers. So those who are complaining are just moaning Tory voters .. :-)

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

    Also known as the majority.

What we are never told of course is how many people were interviewed before the director got the opinion he wanted to reinforce with some judicious editing. Not that the BBC is backing the socialists against the present incumbents.
I like to trust the impartiality of the BBC news, but sometimes I find myself questioning the outlook they present.

I was fine in getting to Kilburn this morning, but back to Amersham was a bit of a mare. Not least because there's no Met line beyond Harrow atm so I ended up taking three trains instead of the two I normally get.

This old number is increasingly relevant to my interests.

  • Nice journey home last night.
Left the city at 9.30pm. Got home at 12:30.
Spent and hour on the tube to end up where I started as stations were closed as we approached them. Ended up on the night bus home.

I don't know why the news crews bother following Bob Crow around.  Just shoot some footage of the Humpty Dumpty headed twat against a green screen and super-imposed a different expensive hotel in for each different strike.

That's because they are not impartial. They'd like you to think that, however.

Unfortunately for me, as a cyclist, the strike means more gormless, mindless, rush hour walkers with their faces buried in their hand-held twit machines, crossing roads where and when they shouldn't. And hey, they're really surprised to see you when you pull up in their face. I've lost count of how many faces i could have slapped or phones i could have nicked from these prime morons.

  • Oh yes. However thamms to the tube strike I have found an alternative route that involves less walking and gets me to work 1/2 hour earlier. Just as long as the bus drivers Don't strike in sympathy
