I've tried all kinds of things over the last 7 years since I've been on em, for wireless the Sennheiser systems are head and shoulders above any of the Thoman, LD and other cheap systems I've used. Trouble is the one I was using cost around £480. In the end after being frustrated about interference coming through from other wireless devices and the lack of quality in the headphone amp of wireless systems I basically used to tape a headphone cable to my guitar lead. That was great but a little messy so I came up with this system

That device has the advantages of built in ambient stereo mics so you don't feel quite so isolated and the headphone amp, my own design is far better than the kind your find in even a top flight wireless IEM receiver as it has a higher working voltage, plenty of available current and plenty of room for larger capacitors to drive the load with no distortion at all.

I have sold quite a few of these but they are too time consuming to build in the current format

So ask yourself do you need to be wireless, some people don't. If you do then it's hard to recommend any of the cheaper systems I've used, only the Sennheiser was any good

Bud wise I'm happy with Shure SE215, just about all the guys I work with use them

  • I use one of these, works great, very clear sound and has a limiter for protection.
