Decide if you want open back or closed back and do a bit of research into which are good for your budget...what is your budget?

I like Sennheiser HD650s and Momentum (on ears)

About 75 ish.. ideally, i think closed back to keep out background noise (i.e washing machine, tumbledrier etc).

AKG 701's open back. Had mine for years, not much better out there.

Does the open back make a huge different to background noise? I did wonder as i typed my other post...

If you have a noisy house, maybe! Ha. I can hear the TV when I hear my HD650s. But I can also hear amazing sounds! ;-)

Seriously, for modelling, all you need is a good set if stereo headphones, clsed back will be fine...open backs will be better for listening to music more than modelling.

I have a par of Bose noise cancelling headphones which although 'consumer' headphones rather than studio headphones, sound great, are comfortable for long periods and do a great job of eliminating background noise

Audio Technica ATH-M50x are pretty damn good and can be had for around that budget second-hand (if you are very lucky)
