Stupid pick up question

I bought a cheap gold foil style pick up on eBay on a complete whim, but they were not able to tell me whether it was a neck pickup or a bridge pickup, which is helpful.

This one in fact:

Does anybody know here how I might decifer which one it is? Other than installing it as I don't really have an instrument I could put it in unfortunately

Edit here is a photo from the interweb http://www.ukguitarstrings.co.uk/md_images/md_452.png

It's meant to look like the Eastwood Airline argyle type pickups here I imagine https://www.eastwoodguitars.com/products/argyle-single-coil-pickups ;

Thanks

    Is there actually a difference with this particular pickup?

    Lol when they were up they were up, and when they were down they were down, but when they were only half way up they were neither up nor down

    Genuinely no idea, though the Eastwood Airline ones come in neck or bridge variants. That said, considering it cost £17 it'll probably sound equally crap in any position

    A pickup is a pickup and it really only matters what it is being paired with, and many like a degree of strength calibration of their neck and bridge pickups (the bridge pickup needing to be hotter just to keep pace with the neck pickup that will produce a larger signal in response to seeing a wider string movement over it)

    Many guitars have a re-sale value. Some you'll never want to sell.

    Isn't it more usual to get the guitar first then the pickup?

    Oh OK thanks yes that makes sense. Trouble is I think it'd need a matching pickup in terms of looks as they are quite distinctive and it'd look lame if paired with something else lol

    Neither do the rest of us who spend too much time reading (and posting on) Fretboard.

    I saw the thread title and thought "They are wire wrapped round magnets.. how smart can you expect them to be..?"

    Mind you a "stupid pickup" would be a good brand name.
    We have to be so very careful, what we believe in...
