What pickups for Les Paul or PRS Custom 24...weird conundrum!

I like Burstbucker Pros in my LP, but am getting another and want it to be my go to guitar for heavy rock/metal.

I'm very tempted to take the Bare Knuckle Cold Sweats out of my PRS Custom 24 as I think they will fit the bill, but that leaves me with a dilemma of what to replace them with?!

So am looking for some good suggestions for both really.

I play atmospheric rock style stuff and like think chug for palm mutes etc.

I kind of want my PRS to sound like this...

So may be open to putting the same pups as hes got in his Ibanez RG.

  • I've found Lace Sensors "Passive Aggressives" to be by far the best hard rock/metal pickup I've tested (out of Dimarzio Gravity Storm. SD Jeff Beck, Ibanez IBZ, Yamaha RGX, IronGear Tesla Sharks)

i gotta admit, on my LP i swapped pickups a few times and ended up with Bursbucker Pro's and they really sing on it.

admittedly I haven't tried Oil City pickups on it...but im sure I would love what ever he makes for it.

Oil City Night Fighters - just fitted a set for a customer on a Custom 24 - Not to hot and not to vintage - warm with a melodic bite

I thought I should point out that your YT embed is broken, that will be thanks to the editor's nice little recent feature update (read - bug) when you save or edit a post.  Maybe just re-embed the link in to OP or a new post?  HTH  :)

Sounds like PRS's description of the Dragon 2's in my CU22.

They dont seem to get much love, but it's the best pickup I've ever had, snarly but tameable.

I have Oil City Scrapyard Dog + p/u's in one of my CE24's and they're excellent. The Alnico V magnets make them a bit snarlier than the Nightfighter's (which are also excellent) so great for ballsy rock.
