I knew getting my hands on my '56 single cut was the start of a slippery slope.  It now has some company in the shape of a '60 double cut.

I'll just leave this here:

I very much covet those guitars. Great giggable vintagers in corking condition.

    Interested in the comparison too.

I have a 62 DC Special (not SG) - wonderful neck and tone on these things

So, how similar (or not) are they in sound and feel ?

The obvious difference in feel to play is getting used to switching between body shapes.  The balance of the 56 SC feels naturally more comfortable, but stood up with the fact the strap button on the 60 DC has been moved to the upper horn this solves the issue.

The 56 has a more ballsy aggressive tone to it but the 60 has more midrange.  The necks on both of them are a handful and really nice and worn in to play.  Theres a subtle difference in contour and profile between them but I wouldn't say one is better than the other just a slightly different feel which just depends what mood I'm in at the time.

After all the years going through gear I've never found anything I enjoy more than the tone and versatility of a proper vintage Gibson P90.  It's definitely making me reevaluate my current gear and simply things again in terms of pedals and amp needs.  It's making me want to play more and bring back the enjoyment so that can only be a good thing.

The main advantage I now have is I get to look at one of them whilst playing the other so it is win win no matter what I pick up to use now!
