im still totally into my new Mesa rig , and could do with a small amp for home .

I was wondering if the mini recto would be small enough to play at home , and loud enough to gig with paired with my Mesa recto 2x12 .

anyone tried / owned one who had tried this ?!

  • I've got a Rectoverb combo (which is essentially a Mini Rec with a few additions) and as a 1x12 combo it's easily loud enough for a unmiked gigs in small/medium-ish sized venues, so with a 2x12 I suspect you'll be fine.

Mini Rec via a 2x12 will sound epic (I've used a 2x10, and @Timmyo will attest to racket it produces even on 10W setting)

Gigged mine happily (on 10W) and got turn it down a bit complaints

Remember 100W is only twice as loud a 10W ;)
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

    Yes. Plenty lound enough.

It just does not sound like a proper Recto at all.

    Thanks guys !!

Its the build and and format of the rectos that I like , so if the mini sounds different from the big rectos I'll probably prefer that .

I've also seen one gigged with a 2 x 12 in a medium sized venue and it was loud enough. My experience with Mesa's is that they sound louder than their output rating.

Yes, easily loud enough. I run mine through a 4x12 and it sounds huge. Works well at quiet home volume too except modern mode, that channel doesn't like being run quietly.

The chap above is right, it doesn't sound exactly like the bigger recto's, but i prefer it to them anyway. Nicer cleans, more aggressive mids focused distortion. And you can turn it up enough to get sweet power tube breakup. Channel 1 pushed at 10 watts with the volume as much as you can (still very very loud..) is heaven.

sounds like the mini might suit me then . I find the big recto's a little smooth and low end focuses , aggressive and focuses sounds good to me !
