Interesting. I was wondering if I should do a J20 for J40 swap only the other day. Is this the single speaker version?

Yes it is.

I moved house recently and my staple diet of J40's and 100w Hiwatt's aren't going down too well.

Conventional wisdom on here is that the Lazy J 20 is a loud amp and is best used at gig volume. I love the fact that big dog, @Gassage, is trading down to a 20 for home use!

You want to hear a J40! It has no idea what restraint is!

A J20 is a whisper in comparison!

The J20 is damn loud, but at least it has VAC attenuation, which I don't think the 40 has?

I love my J20, but can't play it as loud or often as I'd like unfortunately

It doesn't.

The J40 is simply the most stunning sound ever though- think half of a high powered Tweed Twin,.

Used to have a J40 with that speaker and a J20 with the alnico blue - would snap up your J40 in a heartbeat and ahead of the J20 if the bank balance was in better shape....

I don't know much about attenuators but could you not use one with both those amps and keep them. That said, if I had the moolah I would be biting your arm off for the lazy j.

I'm feeling the need, the need for tweed.
