I used SGs for a long time. The strap was marked (with a Sharpie) at either side of the buckle. If the guitar felt "wrong" I would know that the strap length had moved a quarter of an inch even before I looked at the buckle.
I think Mark King would have had a different career, may not have been famous, may have been a jazz musician, if adjustable guitar straps had been available on the Isle of Wight. That is how important strap length is.
Of course.....one advantage is that "Ex Mark King" bass guitars are more identifiable thanks to the teeth marks on the upper horn.
Each guitar has its own strap with Dunlop straps so quick length changes are a no no.
If you wear your guitar at stomach height you play with guts.
If you play it any lower you play it with cajones.

High looks naff to me and Slash level is impractical, so a tad low for me but nothing too mad. It's higher when I play sitting down though. To be honest I do have phases of higher or lower sometimes.
