What's Hot

I'm touring the USA next week and will be using gear out there .

Its pot pot luck what I'll get to plug into , I've got the lend of a Gibson sg but I think the amps will be Marshall valvestate or a crate solid state head.
Beggars can't be choosers !!
But I was toying with the idea of picking up a cheap pedal over there.

id want something that has a hot Rodded jcm800 sound and a separate boost as well for solos.

you guys reckon it's worth picking something up ?
any idea what ??

Visual sound Jekyll and hyde? - Does shredmaster (+Red LED clipping which sounds pretty huge) and a TS808 I think. I think the new truetone version does a bit more.

Its Australian I think though, so might not be any cheaper over there... You could just get 2 cheap clones? Joyo ultimate drive (OCD clone) and whatever their Tubescreamer clone is.  They will get the job done.

Tone City Model M is high gain Marshall+boost at a fairly low budget and seems to be available in the USA. No idea if it's any good but otherwise ticks the boxes.

Blackstar LT Dual? If you go back in time about 18 months and take out a Guitarist sub you'll get one for free like I did!

The Bogner La Grange would be perfect for you, it has a separate boost and low/medium/high switchable gain stages. Love mine.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

JHS Angry Charlie or Andy Timmons? That will do most Marshall stuff and sounds like a better quality version of my Marshall Guvnor.

Then Tubescreamer Mini in front of it

    Done!

  • Is a buying a pedal here and taking it with you an option? There is a Blackstar HT Dual pedal in the Andertons second hand section priced up at £90. I imagine that would be ideal.

He'd need to buy a new power supply for it when he was there. American mains is 120v/60hz.

I agree about buying here and taking it with you though. Internet shopping has taken all the mystique about going to foreign guitar shops and the OP would be stuck with using whatever he could find in the first town he arrives in for the rest of the tour.

    Touring?
Something Boss, they are very reliable and if it does break you can replace it at the local music emporium without fuss.

    This is true.

If you get something else it's a good idea to have a boss backup for anything especially important.

The v2 onwards visual sound pedals are generally very well regarded for reliability, with soft switches and a rugged case but I don't know how easy they are to find. I'd imagine they're pretty common in the states, but boss are easily the most common pedal you'll find. Can't go wrong with a humble sd-1 for boost and maybe a ds1x or da2 for heavier distortion.
