I'm currently using a Mustang ii v2 40w for home practice and mucking about with mates. One of these has come up locally for around a ton. I've no experience of this amp. Anybody out there used both who could give me a comparison?

Cheers

    Define upgrade?

in terms of pure volume, prob yes.
in terms of tone, prob no.

Thanks, that's a good answer. Tone is definitely what I'm looking to improve, I rarely run it loud and when I do the musty is plenty loud.

I had to use one at a festival gig once when the supplied Marshall DSL50 decided to die just before our set, and the H&K was the only thing easily to hand…

They're actually very good-sounding, one of the best analogue solid-state amps I've used. I would say in terms of pure *tone*, definitely an upgrade over the Mustang. In terms of flexibility and features, not - it's quite a simple amp.

I probably wouldn't pay much over £100 unless it's in extremely good condition though - old-school solid state amps aren't worth a lot even if they sound good and are quite loud.

Thanks again, on balance I think I'll stick with what I've got and wait until I need / can afford a decent valve amp.
