Top hats or speed knobs ? Got top hats on my 2004 Standard...but methinks I'd like to try speed knobs they feel easier to use live methinks when I've tried LPs with 'em on...what says you? Also how do you get the buggers off ? Just like a fender knob ie pull it off ?

    Red ones are better.

But seriously, yes I think speed knobs are a bit nippier (marginally, but it counts live) in use, although I left the original knobs on my 57 reissue because I like how it looks and I got used to it.

tbh the biggest improvement in feel/speed of adjustment on the fly is getting some very low friction pots
    Red ones are better.

As long as the pots turn as easily as I need I usually fit whichever type of knob looks best on each guitar.

I use Witch Hats as I like the grip.

There's always those Ibanez 'sure grip' jobs..!

so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

If those are what are on my AM93, they're flipping marvelous.

  • If they are stuck on, get a cloth underneath and around as much of the knob as you can, and pull the cloth up, that should pop it off.

  • Cover the body with a cloth,

get two teaspoons, bowl side resting on the cloth either side of the control knob,

put the spoon end under the control knob and push gently down on the spoon handles to ease up the knob.

    Usually does the trick.

    Cheers
