  • Ah I recognise this riff.  I should really get around to buying some Tool albums albums one day!

My worry is you didn't even finish your first post without saying you really wanted a VH4 so it is only a matter of time until you look to upgrade.  :))

Footswitch looks smart.  I hate cramped footswitches.

You sure it's a stereo cable?

Website says a Mono cable: http://www.diezel.co.uk/access.htm

Interesting. I will try it. The cable looks like a stereo one, but maybe it's just using the tip or something. Thx!

  • Really not my bag at all soundwise but I love seeing how people set up their amps and pedals. Would be cracking to see how your rig turns out if you pick up one of those switching uints you posted about.

    Happy NAD.

I did wonder about that. If they've gone to the trouble of designing a proper system which works down one cable, it shouldn't need to even use a stereo one. And it means you can use any guitar cable in an emergency, or even use one of those barrel couplers to extend it if it isn't long enough.

*All* other manufacturers who use specialist footswitch cables please note! (I'm OK with stereo cables for amps with just two switchable functions, where it isn't really worth going to the trouble of logic switching.)

    Wow.

Fucking killer. Utterly killer. This is one of the first amps where I actually feel like rolling back the volume gives me the tones I want. Channel 3 is uber brutal, but roll back for some exceptional crunches, and then roll back a little more for a nice clean with some grit. Channel 2... set it for crunch, roll back for a really nice and warm clean sound. Channel 1 set for pristine clean, but hit it with a tube screamer and it starts to get crunchy. I actually kinda feel like I should get a clean boost now, so I can hit each channel a bit harder as well.

Cuts through the mix like butter. I'm using the mid-cut because it really adds some extra aggression, and it works nicely on all three channels. Shared EQ for channel 2 and 3 is absolutely fine, not even a hint of nervousness about it. It just works great.

The footswitch mute is really useful too. Just one of those things where at the end of a song, regardless of what your effects are doing at the front of the amp, you can hit it and make the amp totally silent. Really useful for coming out of chuggy riffs intended to fall into a dead silence.

The thing is LOUD too. Really damn loud. I love it.

  • So...do we think you've finally found the amp of your dreams this time?

If you fancy a go with a clean boost, you can borrow my Hydra - I think it's about 15dB of boost.

I was thinking maybe the Mooer because it's diddy! Still not sure if I will get one of those Pedal Palette's or not.

  • Why you keeping the EVH? Variation when recording?

Clip sounds ok, touch fizzy but I'm guessing that's micing as you mentioned it was a rough one?

Mainly just as a backup. But a variation when recording isn't a bad thing either.
