Fallen out of love with my Strat

What's Hot

Used to be my main guitar but for the last couple of years I haven't played it much as I'm playing more rock, so Les Paul's, and lately Gretch's have been the guitars of choice.  Had a bit of time today so had a play on things that have been neglected, Jaguar was great, tele was great, LP Special and Hanmer Junior great too.  Picked up the Strat and it just didn't do it for me at all :(

The thing about Strats is you have to work a bit harder with them compared to gibsons etc.  Which Strat do you have?
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

You could try a pickup line but I bet it wooden work.

Have you considered a luxury weekend break? Relationship counselling? May be some 'toys' to reignite your passion (a wah wah for example)?

I fall in and out of love with Stratocasters due to the thin Single Coil Sound for Rock and the Tremolo/Vibrato can annoy me a little (Tuning), which is why I love a Floyd Rose.

The Superstrat idea makes perfect sense, as I can always flick to the Middle for Single Coil Cleans, or 60's Rock, but I can still get close to a Les Paul Custom with the Humbuckers.

A lot of people mention the Volume Knob getting in the way, but that doesn't bother me at all - Need it for Swells.

I don't understand why rock can't be played on a Strat. It's the most versatile guitar known to humanity.

I mentioned in another thread that I've been struggling with the thin sound from my Strat, but ergonomically it is far superior to my Les Paul. But given that I block the trem on the Strat anyway I've just decided to give up for now. It will be Les Paul only for the foreseeable. Kinda feel a bit sad about it though.

Have an affair with a Telecaster.

Once you realise how dirty you feel you will be back in love.

Loads of rock guitarists play Strats, that's what Strats are for.

I would ask that question as well. I have 4 in my family (2 are Squiers which I gave to my daughters).

My main American Standard HSS Strat is way above the others and the best guitar I've ever played.

Not all Strats are born equal.

    It's not a competition.

For what it is worth, this is my tuppence........
The Stratocaster comes alive with a Compressor Pedal.

It is the one effect that makes a Stratocaster come alive.

It's a Bacchus vintage series.  When I was playing Strats more I had that, a AVRI and a US standard and kept this one as I liked it the best.  Played nothing else for years
