My first electromatic semi acoustic.
So I collected my new G5420T
earlier this evening. In the past I've been somewhat reserved about the electromatic semi acoustics for several reasons. But I must say that I'm really impressed with these newer ones.
I played an orange G5622t Recently at a guitar show which I was pleasantly surprised by.
And now I've just got this fairlane blue 5420 and i must say I'm wowed by it.
It's the best playing/sound electromatic that I've played.
I was a bit shallow recently by saying I only wanted one for that beautiful colour, but after getting it I'm wowed by the hole package.
It looks classy and is really well finished. The previous owner has had it set up just right and with with flat wounds on. It Plays beautiful, stays in tune and sounds great. The backtop picks sound great through my wienbrock amp.

I don't suffer from GAS (well I do fart at times, it's my way of trying to give a s#it). But that guitar looks stunning, the only other blue guitar that turned my head was the Elliot Easton 335 signature but I already have a 335. Now i have to go look at a Gretsch too.
I was massively into the Rockabilly/Psychobilly scene in my mid to late teens and having just got Spotify premium I'm discovering all that music that I loved back then in the eighties. That was basically all the excuse I needed to treat myself (I have a massively understanding and tolerant wife)
I'm so impressed with how well made it is.It's absolutely flawless and other than a basic set up,which I did myself,it plays and sounds brilliant.
Imo these newer electromatics are a big step up and really close to the prolines on playability. So the big question is, if buying new is the big price difference worth it.
im only joking. Yeah I think Gretsch are very much like marmite.
