A guitar solo that brings a little tears of joy to your eyes

The guitar solo that still gets me is a David Gilmore's Comfortably Numb live solo. Shear mastery without the shredding. A great example of less is more. One of the most emotive solos out there, for me anyway

Solo starts at 3.30, marvellous, each section makes a succinct statement and could stand on it's own.

I made it..trouble is the initials folk referred to me as were GIT which is odd really as my real initials are RGB...but hey, fame is fame! 

It could be worse. Could have been TIT.

Isn't it! This was my first exposure to Mayer, and I can hardly listen to his early studio stuff because the live stuff just blows it out the water.

And it's got Robbie McIntosh on. What's not to love?

Don't know about tears, but I'm going to throw Paul Gilbert playing the stairway solo in the spice girls 2 become one in one of the live clinic videos, on YouTube, out there.. Or the last lions, by pg.. That's just today, though, I'm into all sorts, really...

Yeah that's another great one.  I think he segues into the riff of Black Sabbath's Sweet Leaf.

great choice - most of those notes are not on my guitar - is it me or a faulty guitar ?

to many Rory tracks to pick but this is the track I first heard that got me in to RG - whole track has worthwhile guitar parts but main two solos at 3.00 and 5.10

I love this one. So 80s it hurts, but this guy is one of my favourite players ever. Loads of melody and technique all together (solo at about 2:26 if you want to avoid all the hair). Also Adrian Smith's solo in Wasted Years.
