I have here a broken crybaby, however it's not your usual, it's the slash one with a fuzz circuit in it, so inside is far more complicated than usual.

So where should I begin?

You could begin by explaining the nature of the fault!

I too have a broken wah pedal, it's a bespeco, which I think won Plankspanker magazine's Pedal of the month oct 1992

I'll be watching this thread closely. . .

...probably need to buy a new one then.

(There was someone selling one on ebay which worked perfectly in bypass mode but there was no sound when the switch was pressed!)

£8 for a new switch would sort that out surely.

Unless the fault was in the wah circuit, which would have the same effect.

Or the battery was dead :).

Sorry it was said flippantly as wish its the same problem I have with mine as it's the limit of my technical knowledge D

Have you tried a new battery? ;)

If you're using a power supply, try it on a battery anyway - sometimes the power socket makes a bad contact because it's recessed into the pedal casing.

I tried new batteries (it's 18v) I'm waiting on a Y cable so I can try it off my power supply.

Anyone know what the fault is when you depress the pedal and it makes a high pitched noise in a not too dissimilar way to a whammy. Even if you are not playing any notes.

The fault isnt that im using a whammy pedal by the way.....

^ Is that with an adapter, batteries or both?
Some circuits have really poor power filtering and subsequently whine like a bastard when used with cheap power supplies.

OK here's the details of my problem.

New batteries installed, in bypass the signal passed through fine, when I click the wah on (and it does click fine) the light led comes on to signify that wah is now on but no sound at all. If I click the fuzz circuit on the led for that comes on but again no sound, though if I use the pedal I can here a very faint wah sound in the distance through the amp (only with fuzz on not apparent with just wah)

So power seems OK, switch clicks on, as bypass works I'm guessing Jack sockets are good

Remote diagnosis will require photographs of the innards of the faulty pedal and a schematic diagram.

As far as I can tell there isn't a schematic available for it, it's getting close to being binned :D
