I sent the vendor a question. I asked why the item has a "Made In U.S.A." headstock decal but Korean hardware?

Whoever has been dumb enough to bid ten times what the thing is worth will be saved from his or her own gullibility when eBay pulls the plug on the auction.

    Here's the verbatim reply.

"I'm sorry I don't know. I bought it on eBay about 10 years ago and I've not done anything to it since. All I know is that it sounds great and plays well."

Since when did Fender start stamping serial numbers on the metal neck/body plate? Exactly. It's got "fake" seeped into every pore.

Let's face it. There are three basic explanations.
    1. The vendor is extremely naïve - having been thoroughly duped by a previous owner of the offending instrument.
    2. The vendor KNOWS FULL WELL that he is guilty of counterfeiting.
    3. Both of the above.
It is faintly possible that the vendor is sufficiently intellectually challenged to imagine that, if the "F" word does not appear in the eBay listing text copy, no actionable deception has occurred.

The eBay reporting, Feedback and Buyer Protection systems should take care of the matter. On the other hand, the situation should not have arisen in the first place. The more frequently scams occur, the higher seller fees become.

........And the item has been removed. Either the seller has read this thread or eBay got him to pull it.

If so, the Dissernet will have a field day with his academic and professional qualifications.
