Cleaning beer from a fretboard

Best way?
Cos a clumsy drunken punter tripped over her own feet and got her drink all over my Ibanez RG 1570 on Saturday.
Not just splashed but a full-on beer assault, through the pickups and dripping out the back.
The fretboard is sticky.

Is there a best way to clean the sticky crap out of my guitar and off the (rosewood) fretboard?

Have you tried licking it off?

I would take it to bits and clean the fretboard with lemon oil, the rest with a damp cloth.

The punter?  She wasn't my type.

    likewise

I feel there is a pun or two in there somewhere as well, but apart from you feeling bitter about it I can't come up with one at the moment

I would combine those suggestions.  Naptha for a deep clean that may dry the board a bit.  Lemon oil to re-condition

    Okay, I have lemon oil.
I'll try it on a bit first.  I was wondering if it would get rid of the beer residue.
    I can't be the first person with a beer-soaked guitar so I'm happy there's a solution available.
Naphtha -- I've had to google it @bingefeller -- looks evil stuff if I'm honest.  Would lighter fluid be a substitute?  Serious question cos I've got lighter fluid which I've used on the guitar's body.  I just didn't know about putting it on the wood of the fretboard.

I agree with @octatonic I would suggest ensuring that the cloth isn't too wet. You may need to lubricate pots/switches, etc depending on how much the beer has penetrated. Let it all dry thoroughly before reassembly.

Lighter fluid is Naphtha. Like any serious cleaning material, quick as you can to get the shit off then use a guitar polish and a lot of elbow grease to get everything off. Naphtha evaporates quickly. What an asspain dude.

Isn't this like wine and carpets?

Assuming it was a bitter, stout or porter, just pour on some lager or wheat bear.

It depends on the lighter fluid you have, I think some of them may not be suitable for a fretboard.

Not wheat beer.  Maybe a fizzy lager, good palette cleanser.  Must work for fretboards too ;)

You can put the guitar in some rice, the rice will draw out the moisture

Yes, Zippo's own make is OK.  Not sure about Ronsonol or Swan stuff though.
