  • I've got one for the bedroom. The UI is not wife friendly. Also no Dave.

we have it down the "caravan"  -  and Freeview in the kitchen at home,  for general TV goodness I think Freeview is better - but you do get 'babestation' and "playboy chat"  on Freesat      :D

Have used Freesat and a Humax recorder for the past few years, due to the terrestrial signal being so poor as to be unwatchable. It's very good, and I've had no problems with either picture of sound, both of which are crystal clear. Unless your dish is covered with packed snow, that is. If you want to record one programme and watch a different one you will probably need a second LNB on the dish, or whatever they call it.

Most dishes tend to have 4. So I'm combination with sky downstairs we can record 4 shows at once.

  • We've got the Humax Freesat recorder and it's great, though like someone above mentioned, there are channels you don't get that you do on Freeview (Dave etc). As @chillidoggy mentioned, you'll want the dual (or possibly like us) the quad LNB so you can record 2 channels, and in some instances watch a 3rd.

Yup you get the Horror channel instead of Dave, plus assorted softporn. Horror channel is mostly crap tbh although they're showing old Hammer films at the moment which are a hoot.

Btw, check out the Humax website for refurbished bargains. They do different grades, the top graded ones have full manufacturer's guarantee. I got one 4 years back and it's been rock solid.

  • Thanks for the replies.

Have already got dual LNB for recordings etc.Terrestrial Digital is useless around these parts so Freesat is the only option.

Having looked through my Sky + planner 90% of whats on there is on freeview so hopefully wont miss Sky too much.
I will miss the F1 though but as I dont watch much else on Sky it is effectively costing me £37.50 per month just to watch F1.
Given that only 10 of those races are exclusively live on Sky that works out at £45.00 per race!
    :-O
