Battery Pedal Power

I have a strymon flint that I am looking to power with a battery of some kind. I would ideally like a pedaltrain volto but it seems a little overkill for one pedal. If I was to use a rechargeable power bank, would something like a USB DC 5V To DC 9V adapter work without blowing anything up? I am thinking of something along the lines of this

Looks amazing, but It falls into the same category as the volto. I'm literally powering one pedal so if I can do it cheaper but without killing anything that would be ideal.

Rockboard do a cheap one. Build is awful though.

I have thought about the warwick one but I agree it looks a little poor build quality? I guess there is no easy/cheap solution. Seems silly to pay £100+ for a decent one to power 1 damn pedal haha

Similarly I have a Rockboard LT XL which works great and I've had no issues with build quality.

Could you not just use a rechargeable 9V battery with a PP3 connector terminating to a standard DC jack ?

That could work. High current draw so charged spares would need to be on hand.

I'd be surprised if that has the current capacity that the Strymon needs - and it doesn't seem to state a figure anywhere

You will need to make up a PP3 clip to coax power plug lead. Maps have all the bits.

Incidental advantage, earth free.

Thanks for all the advice! I will give one of the cheaper alternatives a test and feedback - hopefully without killing the flint. I'm hoping to dual lock the flint and power bank inside my combo amp, keeping the nano+ for drives and delay.

I think the flint draws 265mA, the cable allows up to 800mA. I was hoping to use it with something like this or similar

dumb question but If I buy a reverse polarity cable will it convert 9v centre + to centre -? I'm thinking of something like this. Having read a lot online I think I'm going to try a usb step up 5-9v cable. Then when MyVolts ripcord comes out move to that.  I need 9v centre negative for the flint but the usb-9v is centre positive.

I use a converter to a center+ for one of my pedals and the pedal runs a dream through the powerblock powering center- units at same time.

As you've mentioned the Flint has a high mA requirement. Mine is very fussy about what powers it.

I have bought a USB 5-9v and polarity adapter and will test before I use it on a pedal. MyVolts are releasing a Ripcord in August which looks great. Essentially the same thing but you can customise output polarity and voltage. I will report back with either success or a broken flint! Thanks for all the help, much appreciated.

did a 3hr+ function set on a volto last weekend, turned it off after soundcheck and during the break, it still was on 2 out of 3 bars power at the end, im impressed so far!
