    Mojo Hand Rook.

I have one and it's not going anywhere! More versatile gain and the tone controls are great - bass and treble.

Good value too. Funny before I had the Rook Royale and didn't care for it - but the original is great.

Another one (will cost a bit more) is the Wampler Clarksdale

Nobels ODR-1 will give you exactly what you want.

or spend large and get Strymon sunset and never want for an overdrive pedal again.

If it's a bit more bass you want and a fuller sound: Way Huge Pork Loin.
Not particularly cheap though unless you find it 2nd hand.

I've got a Boss OD-3 in the classifieds at present. It does what you require. I A/B'd it recently with the Maxon OD-820 and it was identical save for the OD-3's enhanced bass response.

@JezWynd I've had a listen to the OD-3 on a few videos before and it seems to be too generous on the bass for what I'm after. Of course demo videos don't always tell the full story
It can be a little boomy if the bass is set too low with the Tone control, it's quite controllable though. Next to the SD-2 it's my favourite Boss drive pedal.

OD3 was my first thought, not expensive to try and usually easy to find used

Exactly what I was going to say, save for a Sunset you'll never need another overdrive again.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

    My trading feedback

is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

TC Electronic MojoMojo has masses of bottom end. At least Paul Gilbert thinks so (and so do I). Cheap, too.

Fulldrive 2 is pretty good, to be fair.

I really love my Pedalmods UK modded Boss SD-1. It's got the standard SD-1 mod 3-way clipping switch, a great midrange that's thicker than the standard SD-1 with a lower and wider midrange emphasis, a little more low end while still being on the bass-cutting side of things, and great top end that's articulate and clear but still smooth like I want an overdrive to be. It's one of those never-sell pedals for me.

Funny thing is, I always liked it but I didn't realise how much more I prefer it to the standard SD-1 until I had one side by side with it.

Digitech Bad monkey (or hardwire cm-2 if you need true bypass)? Tubescreamer type but with seperate treble and bass.

MI Effects Super Blues Pro gives you pretty much every TS-style sound you could want and more. The body adds more lows and the trim will help cut through. Has so many sounds in it, could easily have two. Unfort Andertons don't seem to stock MI any more but when these do come up on 3bay they go for under £70.

How about an Arion Metal Master. Contains JRC4558 opamps just like a tube screamer, but has high and low cuts on the pedal....

    ......only kidding, it isn't 1985!

The Blues Driver is a bit too mid-rich but one pedal that never fails to deliver glorious tones with any setup combination is my EHX East River Drive.
