Brian Cant has died at age 83 :(

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-40335213

You have to be from a certain age group to remember him from Play Away and Play School, but he, Derek Griffiths, Toni Arthur and Chloe Ashcroft were my TV aunts and uncles growing up...

Ahh, one of my childhood favourites, I certainly watched Play Away well past the target age. Parkinson's is a pretty terrible way to go as well.
    Sad, RIP Brian.

Brian Cant was such a good children's entertainer. Him and Derek Griffiths were both brilliant. RIP Brian

Loved Brian Cant when I was a kid. He seemed to disappear from TV overnight and then never came back.

I remember him on Play School.

When my children were actually children we would go to the local Panto every year. Best one was Brian Cant as Baron Hardup. He seemed to enjoy what he was doing and was an excellent entertainer.

Another piece of my childhood gone, he was the face of childrens TV for me and a lot of others I think, RIP.

As an aside has anybody else noticed that Floella Benjamin doesn't appear to be aging at all?
I'm concerned that she may be an android, sent from the future to destroy us.
Shot through the heart, and you’re to blame, you give love a bad name. Not to mention archery tuition.

Saw Floella on the BBC Chelsea Flower Show coverage a couple of weeks or so back and commented on how she must have a portrait in her attic. She hasn't aged a DAY since I watched her on Playschool FORTY YEARS AGO!

Great house band on Play Away, a bit like the David Letterman band for 10 to 30 year olds doing slightly rude nursery rhymes. The band leader was Jonathan Cohen who played a orange and white stripey upright piano and occasionally the marvelously titled Dill Katz on bass
