Cardinal Red v Dakota Red any advice

I still have to get round to finishing the GSPBasses DC junior
I was simply going to do a cherry stain perhaps abit of sun ageing and a top coat and call it a day.

But saw a couple of old Cardinal red versions and it got me thinking of doing something along those lines.

I had a quick look around and could not easily locate Cardinal Red from the usual hobby guitar paint suppliers but plenty of sources of Dakota Red. Doing a quick google seems that the trend in the 60's for US car paint colours would seem to imply these colours were very similar.

Any advice would be welcome Cardinal red seems a little darker but its hard to tell with pictures of guitars that are well aged

thanks

If you can define the exact colour that you desire in terms of Pantone hue and saturation values, somebody will be able to make it. Alternatively, Google for the Dupont code number for Cardinal Red. Don't laugh but you can probably get something mixed for you at Halfords.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.
