When someone finds out you play guitar and ask "So do you play rhythm or lead?"
    Perhaps they play rhythm piano...
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Years ago an idiot who kept running his mouth about how good he was on a bass guitar, got handed a bass guitar in front of a few of us and told,....."Go on then, show us what you're like then?"

He said "Oh I don't know much I could play for you, I only used to play 'Rhythm Bass' !"

We all fell to our knees laughing.

Bedroom amp rather than home amp. I'd be surprised if many of you actually only kept their amp in the bedroom.
My bedroom amp is kept in my bedroom.

    "My Tech".

    Pah, that's nothing.

My manager at work has "My Luthier"

Adds a whole new layer of pomposity.

If a lute is made by a luthier, is a flute made by a fluthier?
If playing a flute makes you a flautist does playing a lute make you a lautist?

Are guitars therefore made by gits?

This isn't exclusive to guitars and is more of an American thing but the expressions "pull the trigger" and "flip" when used regards the buying and selling of gear are pretty excuciating.

"Whammy bar" and "tremolo arm". One is just lame, the other incorrect and two decades after I started playing I still have no consistent or agreeable way of describing that particular component. If forced I'd probably just go with "wiggle stick".

I want to call it a vibrato but every time I do I get looked at funny as if I'm trying to be posh or they genuinely don't know what I mean.
If I say tremolo people seem to get it straight away but you're right it's the wrong term.

    A 'warm' sound.
    Never known what that means.
What's the opposite, a cold sound?
