Fender amp back panel construction

I'm trying to make a replacement for the broken wafer thin panel at the top of my Supersonic 60. After numerous attempts with hand held router, jigsaw etc. I'm up to my nuts in sawdust and scrap 8mm ply. Any tips on how to make the cutouts ?
