P90 issues

Evening all,

So ive just re-wired a Les Paul with P90's

Setup includes;

500k pots
0.022 caps
"50s" style wiring

The neck sounds beautiful - but the bridge sounds like an ice pick. Very harsh indeed.

Any ideas?

Change the capacitor on bridge controls to a 0.047? Change pot to 250k/300k?

thanks

The answer is always my Murky Horizon set.

Jokes aside I'd go for the 250k pot first.

How close to the strings are the P90s adjusted?

Also, have you changed or repositioned either of the bar magnets in the bridge/Treble position pickup?
    Be seeing you.

Turn the tone control down a bit - that's effectively the same as replacing the pot with a 250K.

Changing the cap value won't have a noticeable effect when the control is up full.

Replacing the *volume* control with a 250K might be more effective...

Perhaps, now would be a good time to establish the make and model of the P90 pickups under discussion?
    Be seeing you.
