Some are in the original key of the recorded song.
Some have been changed because we're not getting into tuning to Eb.

Irrespective of what key they may have been done in before, these are the keys we're using on the day so go ahead and learn them in these keys and enjoy yourselves.

There are 5 weeks this Saturday until the Jam so there's still LOTS of time to do this and we'll help as many of you that need it as much as it's possible to given the resources and time we have between then and now...................probably more me than the other two.

    Any questions?

    Bass or guitar?
Not bass... Have done the background acoustic chord prog, and some power chord sequences and few little noodles... Also vocals.

    Bugger it...

Listen to Learning To Fly by Legionreturns #np on #SoundCloud

If you think any of that is useable I'll have a stab at anything. I just like the song!

Was that a backing track or did you lay down the bass too?

Either way you're on rhythm and vocals chap cos it sounds pretty damn good to me.

If you saw what I just posted, ignore it.
I was on the wrong road entirely.

    As you were.

@Alnico ;;Most people would play Foxey Lady in F# not E. Is that a mistake? (or are you suggesting guitars stay tuned to E not tuned down the E flat)

starting note for the main riff is F# allowing you to go down to E later on in the chorus sequence.

I played everything except the bass and drums but it wasn't the original arrangement. I just worked out a few bits over the basic chord progression.

    Ok,
I went for E to make it easier but you're right, it doesn't really make it that much easier.
Ok, I'll change that but I'll leave this post here for reference.

    Cheers Col

SO to be clear on this that's in F# now an dthat sequence will be F#, E, B............etc.

That's it's, F# E B for the chorus bit. Apart from the riff that's pretty much it, a couple of lead lines between verses and the feedback intro. A fun one to jam that.

Yeah, I think I tried to simplify it but in doing so it's going to cause confusion so best to stick to what most people know.

I agree it is a great song and one of the one's just about anyone can sing, even me !
    :)

Well, there you go then. Put me down for Learning to Fly for bass - I'd like to play it with @Legionreturns - he will do a better job than me :)

So, in order to make sure I'm available for setting people up, planning and general organisational stuff, I've picked some starters for 10 for me to play bass on. They are split across the setlist so I've got plenty of gaps to sort people out:

    Learning To Fly
    All Right Now
    Call Me The Breeze
    Running Down a Dream
    Comfortably Numb

There's 5 to start with - if you need me to do more then that's fine.
Other bass players: pick from the others what you can do/would like to do and then I'll fill in the gaps!

    Hi

Can I update my song list please?  Given various things like time, holidays etc I think I'll be pushing it with my original choices. So to hopefully free some of the songs up for others, I'll remove myself from Running Down a Dream and Sunshine of Your Love and stick with Learning to Fly and Pretty Vacant.  I might actually drop Pretty Vacant too as I'm pretty interested in the workshops and some other things going on in the day.

    Is that OK?

    Cheers

At the risk of confusing things with details ...
    • List updated for the various changes
    • Key to who's doing what:  g=gtr, b=bass, k=keys, d=drums, v=vocals
    • Highlighted songs that will probably need to be played more than once, based on number of people wanting to have a go

Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

@TTony I'm fine with all the bass ones except Testify which is  duplicated with Johnny Bradford. So could you please remove me from that one? Thanks I'll have a look at my bass ones tonight.

@Ttony I'm happy to do vocals on Learning to fly, preferably on the one I'm not also playing if we're doing it twice but I'll manage basic rhythm and vocals together if needed.
