Guitar Techniques is the best for learning to play, though I cancelled my subscription after 10 years because it's gone down hill recently .

Guitarist for gear chat I think? Though I'm not really interested in that and dont buy it myself.

    For guitar, G&B is good.

For more general music stuff then Sound on Sound as @Sassafras said.

Assuming you mean out of the Future publishing titles Techniques is exactly that. Guitarist strikes me as aimed at the older crowd and Total a bit younger and more pointy.

imho that is the overall 'best' of the mags (it has improved greatly since Chris Vinnicomb cook over, and Guitarist has declined since Mick Taylor left) but if you want to try the Future pubs out then they are included in a Readly subscription
    Red ones are better.

Since Chris Vinicombe took over the reins as editor of Guitar and Bass the mag to me is now the better mag

I'm subscribed to Total Guitar. New look is really good and some useful stuff in there for planning lessons (e.g songs and backing tracks)

    I consistently buy Total Guitar.

    Can't think why, I'm 46, but it's a habit I'm finding hard to break.

My wife got me a guitarist subscription, I found it very readable, you can browse through lovely photos of gear I can't afford on the loo.

I buy Total Guitar and find the overall approach pretty good for a hobby player like me who is too cheap to have proper lessons.  Lots of songs and tips.

BTW - That is a good offer on a TG sub, might take that up!

Bought the current TG last night, the subscirption will start with the September issue if taken out now, so if anyone buys it every month and takes advantage of this offer, then you will need to pick up this months.
