My current rig is probably my most bargainous!

The PRS Mira X cost me £360, its genuinely the nicest guitar i've ever owned and just has something really special about it, even though its everything a PRS shouldn't be!

The 2525c owes me around £400, i got it in a trade, but if i work all the trades back theres only about £400 of my own cash in it, although i did drop £80 on a Celestion Neo Creamback for it.

I decided with my pedalboard that i'd treat myself and for once buy everything new. The OCD v1.7 is a bargain at the current price of £100, it'll only be 6 months and they'll be going for that much used again! The Flashback i got a heap of money off because the SD Vapour trail i ordered was out of stock, then faulty, then UK mail didn't deliver so i ended up paying about £115 for that. Cry Baby mini was £100 i think and the BOP switch was £30. new Nano board and a nice new Cioks Adam to power it all. I bought all of it new because i new through trial and error that all the stuff was the stuff i wanted, i'd had it all before but it all just worked for me.I also splashed a huge £25 on the Xotic voltage doubler for the OCD.

I think I posted this in another thread recently but it's all been this year.

    Brand new:
    LTD EC 401 Grey Satin - £775 - £550
    Ibanez Iron Label RGIR20E - £699 - £450
    Ibanez Iron Label RGIR27E - £749 - £499

    Used:
    Blackstar Series One 200 Head - £499
    Peavey Solo Series Special 120w - £60

As far as I can remember those are the best deals I've ever been able to have with guitars and amps.
I picked up an EC-401 for £200 today, and it was tuned to drop C, so I've spent the whole evening learning/playing SOAD songs.

I got a Gordon Smith GS1 for £90 from Carlsbro in about 1994
In about 1996 I bought a 1976 Fender Dual Showman Reverb head and 1975 Orange 4x12 cab for £400 all in.

That pairing was my gigging set up for a few years. People couldn't believe the whole lot cost me less than £500!

Oh, and I got given a Vox AC30 TB with Celestion Alnico Blue speakers by a mate's dad.

I also traded my decent, slightly cheap and fake-looking Vintage SG Jr. copy for this:

Plus about £200, I think. Bloody good deal - this thing looks and feels like a real, old guitar.
This is one amazing playing, looking and sounding guitar. I'm sure everyone would love to find "That guitar", one that just oozes character and charm. This is one of those :)

My first guitar, bought when I knew nothing, sometime in the late 70s, was a Columbus LP "copy".

I managed to get rid of it for free.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Vintage Black with EMGs. It's mint too, there's no reason it was so cheap... I couldn't resist.

In the early 90s, a Tom Anderson Drop Top  (Black with a bound edge, HSS, Kahler Trem, Blower Switch/Switcheroo) bought from Chandlers in Kew.

I took in a Fender Silver Series Strat that I had acquired new that week and wanted it upgraded. Doug Chandler just said "What you really want is one of these. Why sod around". He gave me more than I paid for my Strat on the trade in and reduced the price of the TA. I think I walked out of there with it costing me £1000. I sold it for more than that 2 years later. Doug, Paula and Charlie always looked after me (Charlie still does).

Actually, I nabbed my old 1989 PRS CU24 (sweet switch) for £1K and that was worth at least double that and more now. Shame I gave it a neck break but even after a very good Charlie Chandler repair, it was still worth more than I bought it and sold it on.

If we're talking value for money, my Sire Marcus Miller V7 at £270 new from Thomann was amazing value. It punches well above it's weight and price.

Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Special for £820.  They were about £1,800 new at the time, and of course about twice that now, when they're available at all.

Apart from that, I have a very poor track record of picking up bargains.  If anything, I've paid over the odds more often than not.

What I find quite interesting is that normally @Bucket and I have very different opinions on  guitars but the two he's posted here are both cool as a cool thing.

Really love that PRS in particular.

£420 for what was essentially a brand new usa 2010 Fender Strat that retailed at £1000-1100. Special edition in daphne blue, with delta tone and matching headstock and skb case with all Fender bits inc strap. Guitar was a present from the guys wife - he took it out of the case, strummed it, decided he didn't like strats, and put it back. £420 was to buy an Epi Casino he wanted.
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

    Wow !

    Seriously well done.
I've loved mine since the first moment I picked it up, even before I played a note I knew it was perfect just holding the neck.
It's only ever got better and better each time I play it.

I had a custom truss rod cover made for it by a guy in the US.
It cost £20 and took 4 weeks to arrive but it's so perfectly done and (To Me) makes it a little bit more special......

My latest purchase, which was a mint USA Precision Bass. It was already competitively priced when I decided to go for it, and while I was doing the exchange with the lovely fella who owned it, I learned it had been sent out to one of Britain's finest luthiers for a complete setup and fret finishing job while it was still new. If you ever see it up for sale on here buy it!
If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

Yes..........I am............Like I was the night I played it at your house.

THAT Jackson is STUNNING to play.
It might not be the top flight model of its year or whatever but it's got such an amazing feel and response to it.
The neck is from that era when slim-as-fuck and fast were all the rage.
The frets are like railway sleepers and it's got that Jackson early-days profile that you just won't get on a modern one.

    Stunning guitar.

    Thanks for posting that Mike.
