3PTD switch question

My Brother in laws SOUL FOOD has gone wonky....the switch it would appear....it says on it (on the 3ptd switch) "true bypass and buffer"

What's that all about ...is there something different about the SOULFOOD or is that par for the course for a 3ptd switch?

Is a new switch easy enough to solder up?

Never had a soul food,  but "true bypass and buffer" is a contradiction. 
Is there a selector for TB or buffer? 

Most TB switches are 3pdt (3 poles, double throw) and are easy to wire up. Even I can do it.  Fuzz dog also does a mountable PCB which makes it even easier!

Soul food has an internal switch for true bypass or buffer on a daughter board.  The fs is 3dpt.

yeah TT.......the whole thing ( TB/buffer switch and the 3ptd) was on a small circuit board.....is that particular assembly exclusive to the SOULFOOD then?

no idea. You can replace the fs if you are very careful.

brother I law has unsoldered one end of the ribbon that's attached the assembly....he knows shit about these things though.....has he effed it up you think?

Most of the buffer switches I've seen have been on the main circuit board so I'm guessing the Soul Food is a bit unusual as in the gut shot underneath:
