Bass fx. Small board options vs bass flyrig

John_PJohn_P Frets: 2744
Just debating my options for a small gigging board vs a flyrig.

I'd like:
a di / pre as a backup for amp problems (hopefully not needed)
A touch of grit/ low mid gain
compression
chorus

If the compressor works well with guitar that would be a bonus.

I could just get a flyrig to cover all of this in one box and I have a guitar flyrig that is a great back up.
I have a spare polytune and pedaltrain metro16 that could be used so i could add a tech21 vt, a keeley or Cali comp and a chorus and probably spend similar ish money.

I prefer discrete pedals as it affords more flexibility.

    This is my bass pedalboard:

I sometimes swap out the octave for a fuzz or a envelope filter.

I think you'll find those are amps - that wouldn't make for a very small pedalboard.

That's a neat little board.    Given I have a spare board and tuner it does make sense to just add the vt bass and a comp - did you compare the keeley with the two knob version or a cali?

The 2 knob is the same sound- you just have attack and trim controls inside the box.
The Cali is great but I prefer the Keeley.

I'm in the process of putting a bigger bass rig together that will be all rack- an Axe FX 2 with a power amp, a Distressor, wireless and some Vanderkley cabs..
    That will be a monster.
