If you can still hear the notes your technique is too good
    this is also true… lol..
play every note as if it were your first

so… I'm now doing my tone morphing stuff..
dry riff morphs to clean ambient
solo morphs to clean but remains ambient
clean does no morphing at all

I reckon I'll struggle to do my next preset..
    riff to clean
    solo to clean
    clean to pad
    riff to pad
Are you going to set them on parallel paths and then put a gain block at the front of each?
then simultaneously increase and decrease the gain on the pedal sweep?
there are a few templates for that kind of thing that are worth looking at
shame I can't post a pic cos the photo bucket bstrds..

    amp3: path 2a
There are a few things you can play with here
the gain blocks in front of each amp to turn it up and down
the amp controls themselves (decrease the gain while increasing the master or channel volumes) the mix on a split block
There should be enough in all that to waste a few hours of your time ;)

that's exactly what I've done - a copy of something I do in the Axe-FX
also a pan block after amp1 because:
riff: panned left to sound in conjunction with amp2: panned right
    solo: amp1 pans center

I've worked out what I needed all these years. Expression pedal control over a parallel path with song specific effects on it.

functionally I think I've completed my first preset
it does everything I need it to..
the tone is ok.. it's not blowing me away but I reckon it's not a million miles from where it needs to be
so I think it can get in the right general area

feel wise though the hi-gain tones are not compressed enough
it just don't feel particularly smooth to play..
    sounds hi-gain, feels mid-gain
play every note as if it were your first

the user interface is nice.. the 'learn' feature is great.. works exactly the same as the 2120..

just tried to build my 'morph to pad' preset and run out of horsepower before I got close to it..
    which is a shame…
Q [cos I've not tried this yet] can ambient tails spill-over between presets???

play every note as if it were your first

summary after a few days of goofing:
the Helix is a really nice unit to configure.. really easy and intuitive
and that sense I really like it..

    in every other sense
    - tone
    - feel
    - DSP power
    - flexibility [the chains]
     it's "almost but not quite"

however… I'll continue to noodle with it to see if I can find another way..
after all I'm still rather new to this unit..

play every note as if it were your first

No spill over of any kind (apart from the looper)

You know what.... that's almost the perfect way to describe how I feel about all modellers - Axe, Kemper, Helix .... they all sound great, but they feel like I'm playing through a small Vox Pathfinder amp!!

My rig is basically Diezel D-Moll + Helix in 4-cable-method. I'm loving the tones right now!!!

I was wondering how you were getting on with stuff and how your setup is at the moment. Glad you've found your thing! :-)

Must admit, I couldn't disagree more though, I think the feel on some of these modellers is fantastic.

The mid gain / high gain thing is interesting.

I'm a complete compression junkie so I've got them on everything so I dont have that issue. But then again I'm not pushing the DSP limits either.

Well I've got a bunch of different permutations. My Orange Rockerverb, 5150III-50watter, Diezel D-Moll. Those three are basically amps for life (I know that's true because I've owned all three previously!! LOL!!!) and they serve my live and practice needs very well. Then for recording and home practice, the Helix is perfect. Helix does my effects in all situations too.

Clarky - have you mucked about with the SAG control on the amps?

They can tighten things up quite a bit in high gain use

Could you free up some DSP by using a couple of real pedals?  If you want to minimise button presses then something MIDI controllable like the Strymon Sunset, or one of their reverbs, or an eventide H9 might work.

I don't think DSP is THAT bad to be honest. Just needs some creative routing. I can have four amps in a patch:

Both paths are pretty much maxed out here though. If I got rid of an amp, I could have more effects.
