Spookily, I was only recently watching Saxondale on DVD. I didn't know this song until then.

It appears it was a hanging offence if you didn't use a wah on 1970s TV theme tunes.

Like I said on the other thread, I remember reading in session player Mo Foster's memoir that, due to a technicality, guitarists playing through effects boxes got paid twice the Union rate. They'd have been mad not to use effects!
