Flanger.

I need something like the deluxe electric mistress (but isn't the stereo mistress - tried that and disliked it) but smaller

Need it for covering police and gilmour stuff plus it would be could if it could do a passable chorus like sound

Needs to be vintage voiced as I don't need jet planes and crazy random shit going on!!

    Mooer Eleclady?

     It's certainly smaller!

Failing that what about the MXR Micro Flange.

Not sure if they're still active/any good. May be worth a punt. I know Tonewold had one, but I forgot they'd popped.

  • Ibanez / maxon FL9 is quite subtle and chorusy. Easily my favourite flanger I've tried and worth trying out.

  • Joyo Classic Flanger - does everything you're after and more for £30. I believe it's very similar to the FL9...

What didn't you like about the Stereo? I have one and it does the trick wonderfully.

Failing that, the Eleclady is damn good, as is the Ibanez mentioned above, if subtle and chorusy is what you're after. I used to have an old Guyatone flanger (from the PS series) that I wish I hadn't gotten rid of, which did that Andy Summers thang really well. EDIT: Here's one

Also, what about the TC Vortex? There's one ending pretty soon here, I'm sure that'll do everything.

  • Isn't someone selling a T Rex Tonebug Chorus/Flanger?  They're pretty great!

  • Might be easier to list the Flangers you've tried ;-) IIRC you've been through a few!

It was me selling the tonebug - too modern sounding

    Ive tried

EHX stereo mistress, Neo Mistress, Ibanez FL301 (not a bad flanger) Boss BF2 and 3, Trex tonebug, JOyo Classic Flanger, MXR Micro- maybe a few more like the flangers in MM4, M5 G3 etc etc

The vortex interests me but again, it does all these things that i dont want. The mooer could do it, but HATE those samll enclosures with a passion!

Don't overlook the humble BF2. It's the basis of the Cornish Flanger and a great box.

    The Harmann is superb.

An original green script EM with the Howard Davis mods is simly sublime.

The ZCat Qmod has a great flanger on it too.

Hmm I was going to say Micro Flange, but you've had one.

Guy in my old band had one. It cut through really well which is what I often find is the problem with flangers.
If you don't like any of them maybe a Phaser would be better?

  • I want the original mistress but have heard nighmare issues with volume drops and noise. I have the space (at the moment!) to fit a full sized deluxe EM but don't know if I can bring myself to do it - it's the one I want - but they have issues and are feckin hooge

The big old EHX pedals are a reliability nightmare in my experience.

Ibanez Airplane flanger was a bit too bonkers for me and probably isnt a good suggestion based on your comments. I concur with the Hartman fans - I almost wept when I tried one a few weeks back, its a safe purchase (if you can find one)
