just heard on the news - many will just know him as a country star with a few big hits - But his time as a session player will be remembered by others - Great player and to a large degree under rated - Gentle on my mind is a great song as well - check out his solo from around 1.25

Oh, no - that's terrible news.  I knew he was ill, but still an' all...

    My favourite was Galveston...

My mum was a big fan so I was brought up with a soundtrack of her playing Glen Campbell L.Ps and dad playing Rolling Stones/Beatles stuff .... not a bad mix to have in your musical DNA . R.I.P Glen .

Very sad. I watched the "I'll Be Me" pic a little while ago which is a harrowing portrait of Alzheimer's and a great musician.

He was a guitar genius. He also owned the first ever Fender Bass VI which Leo gave him as he was such a fanboi.

Here's the man shredding- shows just how good he was. Effortless.

Not sure about the leg kicks being entirely neccessary though.

Brilliant singer, player and interpreter of songs; too many to mention. He played a monster lead on Just Dropped In...

Didn't he start out as a session player for Spector's Wall of Sound?

Well, he certainly played on a lot of Elvis' stuff as a sessionista

sat here in the UK it is hard to imagine what a colossal  star he was in the USA and you can see why Ovation put so much behind him in the 70's and 80's

Does anyone fancy tabbing or working out the double stop lick at 1.06 in this? It's bloody amazing.

I'm pretty sure that he used a Dano longhorn 6 string bass borrowed from Carol Kaye for the Wichita solo , in fact she says on  her website "

I never forgot what a thrill it was to cut "Wichita Lineman" for Glen. And yes, he borrowed my Dano 6-stg. bass guitar to play his famous solo on (also for Galveston)."

100% true- and I've read that before. But Leo gave him the red Bass VI too.
