Trade/Part Ex: Cherry Historic '63 335 Block Reissue for Custom Shop Strat

Hi guys

This is really me thinking aloud a bit but after buying this 335 on a bit of a whim last year (yes, I know!) I have come to the conclusion that what I really want/need is a nice lightweight strat not another Gibson semi.  I've said custom shop in the title but I really just want a really nice strat so......!  I'm happy to go for a CS strat plus some cash for the 335.

Anyway, the 335 is stock and in more or less minty fresh.......couple of very small marks on the headstock.  It's a 2003 model so has Classic 57s rather than Burstbuckers.  Weighs in at 8.5lbs on my digital scales.  Nice weight.  Comes with Historic certifcate, case, hang tags etc etc.  Very nice fingerboard, almost like Brazillian rosewood.  The nickel hardware is also nicely dulled.  Set up with 11-49s but is just as happy with 10s.

Please PM me if you're interested....cheers!

And there's nothing wrong with partscasters either......more than a few of them beat the hell out of some of the custom shop guitars I've seen.  I only mentioned 'custom shop' because some of fender's cs guitars are quite light and that's pretty much the main criteria......

How about the one on the right?

Very lightweight and resonant, limited run of 500 worldwide, N3 noiseless pickups, locking tuners etc.

Indeed! But mine's worth about £250 tops in parts though so I doubt it's what you'd be looking for!

Interestingly enough, I swapped a CS '56 Strat for a fat-neck ES-335 a few years back. I have neither now though and miss both of them! If I were you I'd hang on and buy a Strat before you moving this on, maybe you'll keep both. :)

I love the 335 and yet I have several gibson semis and this is the newest of them all....I must admit it is very different to the old ones in just about every way but it is a really nice guitar.  I may well end up keeping it and that's great but if I can find a nice strat then it will give me something totally different.  Mind you, I have a love/hate thing with strats and always seem to end up selling them and then miss em'!!!  ;)

I've got just a few strats :) - most of which I built myself and sport my brand - but I do still retain a very nice US Standard with Mother's Milks in (my Frusciante strat and it does that purfickly).  I also own a LOT of amps.  I'm interested in this and up for a trade with cash either way, so where do you live ?

Very nice indeed. If open to other guitars and you fancy a trade for my 91' CU24, do let me know.

I do have an open mind........however I'm not sure if I know what the CU24 is.  I assume it's 24 fret and is this the one with the bolt on neck and single coils or is it a more conventional 2 x humbucker PRS?  If it's the set neck model with 2 humbuckers then probably not but many thanks for the offer!

    Cheers

It is indeed a set neck with 24 frets - so probably not your thing? If you're curious however, there is a thread I put up about it in my discussions. PRS' like these are pretty much the Swiss Army knife of the guitar world. By all means have a gander if that idea appeals :)
