Of my list, the only one I regret selling was the H&K Statesman Quad. Lovely. The Egnater Rebel 20 was good too but it exploded.

    Since '87
Raven Roadie - it set on fire in '89
Marshall Jubilee 1x12 Combo - sold to a mate about 15 years ago
Marshall JMP1/Power amp and 4x12 - why I let the Jubilee go for this I don't know
Rivera R55 - really liked this one
    Marshall DSL401
    Marshall TSL601
Matamp V28 - loved this but it weighed as much as a small planet
Fender Blues Junior - since 2007 - still got it and gig it regularly
Dr Z Carmen Ghia - great little amp
Fender Pro Junior - Better sound than the Blues Jr, just doesn't have as much headroom
Dr Z Maz Jr - another nice one
Recently got the Jubilee back from my mate.
    Forgot the Boss Katana 50

Very nearly 50 years. Can't remember what I had as a youth but I do remember attempting to build a valve amp following the plans and build series in IIRC Practical  Electronics. Just as well I never got close to finishing it as I would probably have killed myself. Still it sowed the seeds.

Fast forward 35 years or so and started playing again.

    Marshall Valvestate 8040
Dean Markley (no idea what model)

About this time started to get interested in gigging hence

    Fender HRDx

Just about the same time I saw Matt Schofield for the first time and then second time he'd got a TR and I started to read up about the heritage, the Dumble cloning thing was just kicking off. And I found Ceriatone. As a primer I started with ;-

    Ampmaker se-5a
    then
    Ceriatone OTS (current)
    Ceriatone DZ30 (current)
    Ceriatone 1987(current)
Dr Z EZG (to satisfy my Super Reverb lust)
    Redplate Blackverb
    Carr Rambler (current)

You have two Classic Choruses? Have you ever tried running them both in stereo (or should that be quadrophonic?)... or is that a bit like crossing the streams?

    :)

Haha... I never have, and unfortunately I only have one now.

It seems like overkill but then you are the guy running two Dual Rectifiers, are you not? :)

    Not any more :(.

Just the Peavey Special now… although it's arguable that it's capable of about the same clean volume :).

    I was thinking about this...

The only amp I've ever owned that I haven't also owned at least TWICE, is the Marshall JVMJS. Every other amp I've had, I've sold and rebought and sold again! lol.

The only amps I've bought again were the Fender Princeton combo and the Fender Prosonic.
I have been thinking about getting a collection of amps again- a few Marshalls and Fenders, a Dual Rec, a Mark 1- 'the recording staples'.

Picked up guitar in 1990. Having lived in post-communist Poland by the time good amps were like Ferraris - pretty much non existent.

I did indeed. Excellent amp... but once I got it back from Marshall it just sounded different... I am tempted to think that either they didn't fix it properly, or what was broken about the amp was the thing that made me like it! That sounds like rose-tinted bullshit, but it really was a night and day difference.

  • When I first started in 1981, I had a cheapo amp called a 'Venom' - can't remember who it was made by.

    Then:

1971 Marshall JMP 50 (1987) head with Marshall 4x12 cab

    HH IC100 - sold it.

Blackstar ID 60 - sold it

Fender Mustang 40 watt practice amp

    Vox AC 30 CC2X.

Sold the Marshall and cab, still got the AC30 as main amp and the Fender as practice amp.

I have no desire to change the AC30 atm.

    Never ever bloody anything, ever!

I've always been blessed in knowing exactly what sound I've wanted, and got that with a Marshall 2555 custom (black Jubilee) years ago. Still have no idea why I sold that. So, notable amps are

    THD Univalve and Laney 2x12
    Fender HRD

@rockmonster ;, that's only from the last 3 months. What's the actual list?
1reaction image LOL 0reaction image Wow! 0reaction image Wisdom
  • I think my list after 15 years goes something like:

Park G25R - first amp and practice tool.

Marshall G100 and 4x12 - I think it was a G100, definitely the predecessor to the MG stuff.  I was a teenager and wanted a Marshall stack.

Laney TF200 - I heard these things called valves apparently made a nice amp sound, foolishly believed this to be one of those amps.

Marshall JTM60 and matching 4x10 - not the greatest on reliability but did one sound nicely and was my first intro to valve amps.

Randall RH50 and matching 2x12 - surprisingly versatile and nice setup on a budget.

Ashdown Peacemaker 40 - a turd.  And a very hot turd on that when the valves somehow welded themselves into place and couldn't be replaced.

Carvin Vintage Tube 33 - much underrated and bargainous amp that survived the first year of university with me.

Orange Tiny Terror and 1x12 (the very first shipment into the country, with the 1x12 loaded with a G12-100 rather than a V39).  Bought to be more practical for gigging and getting friends to assist with loading and unloading.

Framus Dragon -  bought because the Tiny Terror didn't do loud brutalz..... However, 3 channels and too many switches for ultimately limited tonal versatility.  Gigged it one night and the guitarist from the band on before me managed to "accidently" knock all of the settings on the amp, couldn't reset it in time or live whilst on stage so it had to go.

Vox AC30CC2X (with alnico blues) - saved from Neville Marten's shed as the tremolo wasn't always working and he was happy with the Matchless rig.

Soldano Hot Rod 50 from '92 - traded the Framus for this, couldn't be happier about that.  Still have it and won't get rid of it.

Mesa Express 5:25 - a nice amp but I wasn't gigging at the time and didn't like that I couldn't switch between the 2 OD modes via the footswitch.

RDA Custom Built Dumble/Soldano blend - a great amp but what I wanted tonally required too many switches and buttons for me.

Hughes Kettner Switchblade 100 - bought for dive bar gigs and covers band flexibility to avoid having to carry a pedalboard.  Got rid of it after hearing a gig recording and how bad it sounded with my Anderson Hollow Drop Top.

Blackstar HT50 - not strictly mine but this was also a turd.

Fender Silverface Pro Reverb from '73 - glorious and weighty beast.

Marshall 1987x - no comment needed.

Jet City 100HDM - owned for about a day before being returned.

Jet City JCA50H - modded the bright cap and gigged it happily for a long time.

    RDA Dualist

Cornford Harlequin - for practice, recording and small gigs.

The Soldano and Cornford have survived.  All others have gone and I'm sure there are others I'm missing and forgetting about.
