40+ years. Too many to remember... maybe three figures. Started with WEM  and Selmer, dozens of different Marshalls and Fenders and a number of Mesas and a few Vox, Laney, H&K, Yamaha, Carlsboro, Roland, Bogner, etc etc. For the last twenty years it was mainly search for something that balanced being light weight with a great sound. Now settled on a lovely PRRI 65 with 12" speaker and a stunning MJW that somehow seems to marry Marshall and Vox in a small perfectly designed head. Not missing anything else for now.

  • 23 years:
    Kustom SS 10 watt combo
Trace Elliot Super tramp stereo combo
(borrowed) 60s jtm 45 head with early stacked 2x12 Marshall speakers.
Fender blues deville 2x12 (nightmare amp which was always blowing or in for repair)
Marshall vintage modern 2266 half stack (I found this better than most folks will claim)
    Abbott 18watt TMB

A relatively short amp journey that saw approx 4-5 guitars per amp in the perpetual GAS quest.

In the Beginning: Crate 15w combo.

The Shit Tone Years: Carlsbro "horrible" 100 watt 1x12

Time to Get Serious: Line 6 Flextone 3 XL 2x12

Wait, that was still shit, Time to sort it out and Gig: AC30cc2 (with many mods over the years and every speaker under the sun)

The Now I Know What I Like, and What I Like is AC30s era: AC30cch, AC30cc1, AC30cc2 (a different one to the first)

The Sick of AC30s Slump: Vox Night Train, Miles Platting 50 watter, Vox AC50cph, Vox AC100cph, Genz Benz Black Pearl 30 Head

The oh, wait, what about AC30s Resurgence: AC30hw Head and 2x12 Alnico Blues Cab

The Ah, But AC30s Can't Do Everything Realisation: Mesa Tremoverb combo, Marshall JMP50 Mk2 2x12 combo, Mesa Stiletto Ace 2x12 combo, Genz Benz Black Pearl 30 1x12 combo

The "I like AC30s, and if I can't do it on an AC30 am not I sure I want to do it" Grim Realisation: Korg-era Vox AC30tb/6

Of the lot, the Korg AC30, JMP50 and Black Pearl are still in my practice room.
Is the Korg AC30 one of the ones that came out with  metal 'Hardwired' badge on bottom right hand corner??

  • Thank goodness for rockmonster and his list. Mine would be embarrassingly similar!! Ones I wish I hadn't sold...

Matchless Chieftain 2x12 - Amazing amp and definitely one I'd look out for again if I was gigging.

Vox AC30 Hardwired from Korg era - I think Marshall made them??? A series that only lasted a few years if that.

So I've been playing around 22 years but I've had the following.

    Marshall Valvestate.
    Marshall JTM 45
    Blackstar HT5
    Orange TH30
    Orange OR15
    Fender Greta
    Fender Pro Jr 3
    Marshall JVM 100 Tattoo
    Blackstar HT1R
    Kemper
    Jackson Ampworks Mcfly

I think that's everything but I'm probably missing a few bits.

There's a few I regret selling but I like to try stuff so I can't resist changing.

After my full list, I realised that I did miss one key amp.  I have an MJW Roadstar Sport 36, which I use with a Splawn 2x12 and Webber Thames speakers.  This is Martin's demo of it https://youtu.be/85HjdWH-J9c?list=PLA28DECBD884FE0FF.  It's been at a friend house for the last year, as we had a lot of work happening in the house, and I'd been doing some recording with him.  It's actually the best amp for gigging as it has enough power to fill a room, but with the power scaling, you can bring the volume down to where you need it.

    Been playing about 25 years.

    Some little Rocktek amp
A red knob Fender of some description
    Marshall Valvestate 8020
A 100w Sunn amp which was like a big twin
    Marshall Valvestate 8100
    JCM900 50w head + 1936 cab
Line6 pod xtLive which was my only means of amplification for a few years
    Blackstar HT5 ministack
Marshall Class 5 with POD HD500x

Now looking for something better for home use.

I think from my list, and quite a few others here, you can tell when people joined bands and played live and then the point that they stopped playing live.
