Is this a genuine LP Standard? Update - NGD!

Found a decent looking LP Standard but I noticed something about the frets - notably a lack of nibs.

Is this something as innocuous as a re-fret or a lesser model masquerading as something else?

Looks in pretty decent nick for a 2000 model year!

Seller will get back to me with the serial number so I can verify the age.

Cheers!

Unless it's been refretted, it will be a 2014, they had no nibs.

How can you be so sure that it's not an older guitar that has had a re-fret? Seller is pretty adamant its from 2000.

If it's a 2014 there should be a commemorative inlay at the 12th fret.

Looks in very good nick - hardly played. Why would it have needed a refret?

Unless its non-standard wire? They do look pretty tall... but that could be a trick of the pics.

looks more to have the features of a pre 20002 model - what is the serial number as that will confirm it

re-fret might be because a player wanted a different size set of frets and not just about wear - not an issue as far as I'm concerned for  a decent re-fret anyway

Looks okay from what I can see and no negative issues

Seems to look real. Things I look for is the placement on the knobs and the bridge both look ok. and the body shape. the typical chibons are a little off on those things.

Perhaps its a variation of a Les Paul model with a Standard truss rod cover applied.

I don't think it's a Les Paul classic as that year it had those green inlays.

  • Nothing sticks out as wrong assuming it's a 2000 that's had a refret. Slightly surprised the rest is in such perfect condition but not out of the question.

    @guitars4you Haha!

On a slightly more serious note, do you know what pickups and neck profile this left the factory with?

at the time Gibson only offered one neck profile on most of these 1990 based LP's - I suppose today it is close to what they call the 50's profile (don't confuse with the Custom Shop/Historic Collection chunky 50's profile) - I can't recall Gibson stating anything about the profile it simply was offered for sale as is with no options

Pick-ups should be 498T and 490R on that period

Picked this guitar up this morning. It's everything I wanted in a LP Standard. It has indeed had a refret with big fretwire (not sure what specifically - maybe medium jumbo?) and has a bone nut too. Needs one or two tweaks to suit me but I am over the moon.

    Quick and dirty pic:
