Pedalboards

What's Hot

As in the actual boards themselves. I haven't bought one in about 6 years, so just before I go and buy another Pedaltrain, what else is good these days?

I'm home-only but would like something to keep everything tidy when not in use - case or lid. Lightweight is good, but something pretty looking is higher on the agenda than if it was a purely gigging board.

I've been using a Palmer Pedalbay 40 with a soft case, if that helps - better than Pedaltrains, IMO, because you don't need to drill holes for mounting the PSU and the middle two rails are adjustable.

Not sure it really counts as "pretty looking", mind.

I like the look of the alder and ash pedalboards. I use pedaltrain, but if I were to build a home board at any point I'd be inclined to go with them - essentially a UK based and more affordable (and less up shit creek) version of salvage custom.

I'll second this - I bought the Pedalbay 60 for just over 60 quid delivered and it's brilliant. The build quality is excellent, having the adjustable slats is useful and the gig bag is really good as well. Can't complain for the price.

  • I like my Aclam Smartboard S1 and you can buy bits to make it dual level too

  • I use the Diago pedal boards, they're hard cased but only cos I play in a touring band so need something rugged that will hold up when being slung around in a van!

For lightweight maybe the T-Rex ones perhaps? They do soft case versions which are good.

  • There are quite a few companies doing Pedal trains but without the price tags.

Palmer have already been mentioned, also check out the Innox PB01.

The Innox boards come in a variety of sizes- mine is the biggest PB06,  which is the same size as the biggest Pedaltrain and comes with a shoulder bag. The board is sturdy and the bag is pretty tough (but not very thickly padded). Came with tons of velcro and some elastic band things to hang a PSU from the bottom. I'd buy another.

Another vote for the Palmer Pedalbays. Terrific value and more adjustable than a Pedaltrain. Very happy with mine.

  • Palmer are good but the bags are not as good as Pedaltrain's.

  • Is @dindude still doing his Smorg boards?  More attractive than the Pedaltrain-style boards, IMO.  I like the way you can hide most of the wiring underneath, too.

  • I'd recommend trawling the bay for aluminium cases, they're cheap and robust.  I picked up one for 45 quid with detachable lid.  Kill two birds with one stone :)

Smorg is still alive and well but I have it fiting around my (at the moment very very short amount of) time and try not to take on anything I can't fulfill quickly, so I'm turning more down than I'm building right now.

Get a custom sized tiered board off Swan Flight in budget ranges or @custompedalboards on higher end.

As cheap as any pedaltrain but you can design to your need.

I went for the Pedal deck from Sounds Great suits me well but the case weighs a metric ass ton.
