Picked up this Charvel Spectrum a little while ago from
@davidrondeau1979 Im a sucker for late 80's early 90's shredder guitars & Over all its a solid guitar with a few bumps and chips here and there
Now im sure i could have just thrown a new floyd in it and clean it up a bit and it would have been just fine...but where's the fun in that
After a bit of a play in photoshop (and inspired by some pictures of a pickup truck i saw in orlando/kissimmee old town car met a few years back)
i decided to try out house of kolors tangelo candy over a (non glittery/metallic) silver base coat,so picked up a kit from
https://www.jawel.co.uk/ paints
Decided id use the org coat as a sealer as i hate stripping back to bare wood,so i filled the damaged area's (superglue) and sanded back the lacquer as close to the blue base coat as i could then slapped down a tac coat + 2 base coats of silver
After giving the base coats 24hrs to vent ive emptied the candy orange on it today (almost 3 coats)
Gone on quite nicely as there cans have a nice fan,its totally matt atm but im hopping to get a clear coat on it sometime over the next few days so it should pop a little once its glossed up a bit.

thanks for the feedback
So i got another few coats of the U-pol on (and yep BK it is 1k) and its glossing up nicely and starting to pop
500ml can lasted out for 4 coats will a little left in the can,id like a few more coats to play with for flatting out (im forever punching through edges when i flatten) alsos i im going for the caked in poly late 80's gloss look
My local supplier wants £5 a can for the u-pol but i just brought x12 for £32 in free del off ebay bringing the cost down to £2.50 a can much better....now i don't need 12 cans right now but im sure i'll get through it sooner or later !
While i await my clear i'll start cleaning up the neck and get he replacement waterslide sorted.

Anyone got any tips on de-yellowing pick guards? the one on this isn't to bad but ive had no luck in lightening it via cleaning so i think it's UV related yellowing
@Wolsnah : Id say go for it,the tangelo is a great orange candy not to OTT but it really zings up under sun/bright lights
the House of Kolor line that jawel carry really does have some nice colour's,im already on the look out for another fixer upper just to try out ther limetime green candy
I was hopping to have gotten this charvel all back together/fret dressed today but no such luck...bloody mobile phones it's being switched off tomorrow....

Big Sorry been finishing up so other stuff & waiting (in vain) for some sunlight to grab a few pics
She's all done and kitted back together,I've Gone with a standard 3 way + tone/vol & kill switch atm till i can find some info on rewiring the Eq sweep preamp,
As the necks been off for a while i decided to let it settle/tweak it for a week or 2 before doing a full dress/crown,but its only choking out at 1 or 2 spots on the high b/e so i might just do a banana dress on it.
btw those strange rings around the vol/tone knobs are from the reflections cast rubber O ring'ed speed knobs i fitted
I did paint & decal the headstock but i posted the results in the DIY inkjet decal thread i started sorry
I'll try and get some better pics once we have some clearer brighter days
What's the trem? Floyd Pro?
