FS - Ibanez RG550XH. The perfect glam metal guitar.

Time to move this on.

It's a fairly rare model I think - it was only made for a couple of years, and understandably it caters to quite a niche market. I played it and absolutely fell in love with it though. It's a good specimen of an RG, and it really... stands out. To say the least!

It has an active circuit simulating a neck pickup, which is not a feature I have used very much but it's there if you want it, and it's serviceable. The pickups themselves are stock, and they're not bad - everything else on it is stock as well, I contemplated messing around with it but never had the time or money to do it properly. The trem is one of those models which has a blocking mechanism on it, I think - again, never delved into this. The model is the Edge Zero-II with Zero Point System.

Comfy neck - it's not a total toothpick like 90s Ibanezes, but it's still very slim and shred-friendly. I've always found it a tremendously comfortable guitar to play, and it facilitates just about any shred lick you can think of.

A note about the 30 frets - while it looks like a ridiculous extravagance, the real-world benefits of having such an enormous cutaway really are very noticeable, it was a revelation to me. Suddenly I was able to access higher register patterns and positions that would have been impossible on any other guitar, and even if you stop at the 24th fret, the access is head, shoulders, chest, large intestine and bollocks above any other guitar you care to mention. It's fantastic - any guitarist who ventures up that end on a regular basis would love it.

It's in very good nick and has never been gigged. Sadly though, it does not come with a case or a bag. Therefore, collection from London NW6 would be preferred, or I can meet somewhere mutually convenient. If you really do need postage, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Price-wise, I'm looking for £300.

Here's a video of it - it was great to get up to those high frets with no obstruction whatsoever:
