To be fair, the guitar looks quite nice.

If anybody is thinking of buying it for a present, remember a Tokay is not just for Christmas.

  • Three instances of misspelling cannot be blamed on Autospellchecker. Either the vendor is myopic, illiterate or some copy brand is now building Ch-okais.*

    * Er, these days, that probably is Tokai themselves.

Well, it is "based in the Gibson Standard".

  • Who in their right mind sets a Buy-It-Now price that ends in forty nine pence?

Ending in ninety nine pounds and ninety nine pence to avoid reaching the next complete hundred might be understandable.

I quite like it. Adds a bit of colour to an otherwise dull economic process.

I think that from now on, I might ask random, yet specific sums for items - and any haggling will result in an equally random (but precise) figure.

Vendor: "Yeah, I want £286.84 for it".

Prospective purchaser: <sharp intake of breath> "Would you take £240?"

    Vendor: "£261.25 and you've got a deal..."

Insisting on being paid in precise quantities of coin of the realm might also bring some excitement to the transaction.

Vendor: "...but I'd need it in £72.40 of 20p pieces, £86.44 of pennies, £12.28 of 2p pieces..." (etc, etc).

It wouldn't be frustrating at all. ;)

Maybe it was entered in foreign currency and that's what the exchange rate converted it to?

(P.S. I think that £86.44 of pennies is not legal tender.)

Correct. But this wouldn't prevent our notional (and irrationally pedantic) vendor from demanding it, just to test the prospective buyer's knowledge of legal currency.
