did not know Gibson had brought the Citation back into play - remember them from the 70's as the top of the range jazz box - I don't think I've actually seen one in the flesh - Only a small amount were ever built - I'm trying to recall from a fading memory box, plus stories in folklore, but I recall only one key luthier at Gibson actually built the original Citation and either he retired or died so no more built - I think there was another limited run around 83 and 93 - Don't know who is building such guitars today for Gibson as I'm not sure who works there with the appropriate luthier skills to build such an expensive jazz box

exceptionally fine hand built archtops can be very expensive - And I'm not just talking about vintage D'aquisto's or old Gibson's - The likes of Benedetto, Twiggs, LaPlante, Campellone and Monteleone can costs many 10's of thousand dollars - Many are 1 man businesses and build only a few a year - With the greatest of respect to even the Masterbuilt or Custom Shop Tele's and other well known brands, styles and makes of guitars that we all own, play and sell, there are a lot more man hours required to build such jazz boxes - so £10K, 20K or 30K is not uncommon

There's absolutely no justification for that sort of price tag because they could just as easily be made of concrete and they'd sound exactly the same according to our resident scientist Professor Sunburst.

see very few these for sale - even a google tour of USA dealers shows few as well - yet equally a small market for such high priced jazz boxes anyway - thanks for the link
