How Old are These Strings?!

I was sorting through my guitar stuff and found these strings.

Ernie Ball Super Slinky, but the packaging is the old style and the endorsees on the back are, well, going back a bit I guess.

I know they're not "vintage" or anything silly, and I've put them on the guitar, so don't worry there will not be a "super rare strings" advert in the classifieds any time soon, it really is just a case of wondering how long I've had them!

(Guessing at around 15 years?)

Price wise they haven't gone up that much!

Oh, and for all the Ernie Ball Haters, they were in perfect nick and should last at least a week!!

I would guess that these strings are around 143 years old.

I used to buy them like that back in 2002 at my local guitar store.

@SNAKEBITE haha - ditto! just posted a similar post on the Memories of Kingston-upon-Thames FBook page!

"I was clearing out some stuff and came across the packaging of some guitar strings I bought around 1976 and the price label says Hands. I know they are (only recently) gone now, but before they were in the Griffin Centre, where were they in Kingston - Apple Market??"

  • Even 'FRETS' guitars was selling 3 packs for a tenner about 10 years ago....
The prices for EB string now is crazy........

  • They’re ‘properly’ vintage - there’s a fair chance on a guitar they might last more than 10 minutes, if they’ve not turned to rust already.

I’d approach Atoyboy guitars - there’s a strong possibility they’ll link them to Hendrix in some way and manage to sell them for £450,000....

Late 90's, I'd say. I remember the little clear bag things they came in stopped in the early 00's.
