bloody Nora why am I watching this? I remember reading the book at school. Wonderful writing, with fascinating jumps in time, and Mcewen's mastery of describing the psychological nuances and minutiae of life. This adaptation is beautifully acted - but it is so unbearably tragic. Can't work out why I am drawn to this kind of film. Wonderful Sunday night misery viewing...
