Katana Head: Midi?

Just wondering if anyone has tried using MIDI control on the katana head? As far as I know it's the only one in the katana range with a MIDI port. 

What I'm trying to work out is whether I should buy another GA/FC footswitch (My old one went with the 1x12) or try some sort of midi controller pedal. There's not much info out there that I can find. How would it work? More versatile than the standard footswitch? 

Any suggestions for a good midi pedal?
