Great Voice-Box tracks.

Who remembers the voice-box? It's use appears to have fallen out of favour in recent years.

My favourite use of it is on a couple of tracks from the 70s
Joe Walsh's Rocky Mountain Way and Peter Frampton's Do You Feel Like I Do from his Comes Alive album.

Any favourite s you'd like to share.

And.. if anyone dares mention..choke..Livin' On A Prayer by Blow Jobie then may their balls be pickled in nitric acid.

  • Rocky Mountain Way for sure...great track.

Also Haitian Divorce by Steely Dan......although I believe the voice-box effect was added after the original solo had been recorded without it.

Does anyone know of any good voice-box sims out there without having to shove a plastic tube in your gob?! I'd guess that's why it didn't catch on as much as the wah....would be much less undignified if you could just pedal in the effect!

    Danelectro Free Speech.

Anything is better than the vomit-inducing, filling-loosening, amp-killing lash-up that is an original talk box.

    The Rocktron Banshee's quite good.

Don't quote me but I think the modern day ones have their own preamp etc and don't need a load box like the originals. Is that right?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the absolute best use of voicebox in the history of stuff:

I'm led to believe that was the first version of a voice box - sadly I recall it on Junior Choice Radio in the 70's - Sat morning with Ed Stewpot I think it was ?????????????????
